After I released my 2009 EP, I began working with other artists, performing and recording. It was good to get out of my own head and work on other people's songs for a couple years. I grew as a musician, engineer, producer, and songwriter because of it. I also learned a lot about myself in terms of what I believe truly matters in this life.
Early in 2012, I decided it was time to combine my life lessons and stories with the musical growth I had obtained over the past couple years. In April, "Boundary Waters" began to take shape. This album is a collection of songs inspired by the ever-changing world we live in and how it affects us as individuals. It's all about being honest with ourselves, accepting certain realities, and striving to change the others. Although this is technically my third release, it feels more like my first, with two earlier practice runs. This is by far my best work to date and I will hold this album dear to me for years to come.
In 2009, I took what I had learned from recording my first album, and put that to use on this EP. It was recorded in my house. We did it in the heat of the summer, and I had to turn off the AC and fans when we were tracking because they made too much noise. It was hot. I had to deal with crickets, semi-trucks, sirens, storms, and my skateboarding neighbors all making noise while I was trying to record. We recorded 25 songs that summer. Here are 5 of those songs.
